Chris Kempster, a folk musician, talks about his family background; mother's membership of the Communist Party and Realist Writers; exposure to Australian folklore at Cockatoo Docks, Bush Music Club and Unity Singers about 1949. He also gives his impressions of the Youth Peace Festival or Carnival in 1952; 1st performance of Sydney Bush Band in 1953 and its break up in 1957; running of musical drama "Reedy River" for nearly 12 months in Sydney and the Eureka Camp at Springwood. Kempster then discusses the membership of the Bushwhackers and the split in the Bush Music Club and Bush Band.
