MS 6098 comprises correspondence files, 1969-1974, created by John Ward in his capacity as the first Secretary of the Australian School Library Association (ASLA). The Secretariat was situated in Melbourne during the period of this correspondence. In addition, further correspondence, minutes, reports, and conference arrangements. Also contains material relating to ASLA, IFLA, Children's Book Council, WASLA and related bodies. The 1987 instalment comprises correspondence, minutes, agendas, conference papers, publications and ballot papers from mostly 1970-1976 (42 boxes + 1 Folio box).
The MS Acc18.060 consignment comprises editions of council and executive meeting notes, seminar details and financial papers (17 boxes).

The Australian School Library Association was founded in 1969 as non profit organisation for the promotion of school libraries and teacher librarianship in Australia. John Ward was its first secretary.
