The records in MS 7446 include correspondence, minutes of meetings, annual reports, agenda papers, financial records, press cuttings, news releases, records on constitution matters, some personal papers of office bearers and printed material (253 boxes, 9 cartons, 2 fol. boxes).
Arrangement and description of boxes 1-111: ALIA records held in its Sydney office were originally surveyed and culled by Alan Horton and archives staff at the University of New South Wales. The records retained were subsequently listed by Alison Cooke, but the box numbering was maintained. Hence categories of records in this section are often in broken sequences.
Arrangement and description of boxes 175-261: The records in this installment were arranged and described in 1988. Although the boxes have been renumbered (boxes 175-261), the original arrangement and description of the records has been preserved.
MS Acc97.124 comprises files relating to: ALIA Board of Education, 1984-92 ALIA Board of Education Continuing Education Committee, 1984-87 LAA Professional Development Committee, 1988-90 Professional Standards Comittee, 1984-86. These files emanate from Eric Wainwright's involvement with the above ALIA bodies (3 boxes).
The Acc98.301 instalment comprises further records of ALIA (1 box).
The Acc07.031 instalment includes records that relate to Eric Wainwright and his chairmanship of the ALIA Board of Education, 1983-1992 (3 boxes).
The Acc09.048 instalment consists of records transferred from the National Office of the Association. They include member lists; registers of Library Association of Australia (LAA) examination results and professional members; records of the General Council; Executive Committee meeting agendas and minutes; LAA constitution and by-laws; theses submitted for LAA Diploma awards; sectional and regional records; Board of Directors records; ALIA committee files; ALIA National Office files; conference records; and Library Week files (56 boxes).
