1) "Pay book of the Grenadier Company 71st Regiment". 2) Documents relating to Lachlan Macquarie, including letters 1784-1804 from Lachlan to his uncle Murdoch Maclaine written mainly from Bombay, Alexandria and London; letters to his brother Charles and his sister-in-law. 3) Letter 1794 from Jane, Lachlan's first wife, and to his mother and two letters from Lachlan Macquarie's mother to her brother. 4) Letters 1793-1802 from Charles Macquarie to his uncle Murdoch Maclaine and to his cousin Murdoch Maclaine 1813-34; miscellaneous letters and copies of letters 1793-1835 to and from Charles Macquarie including two from his son 1835; documents relating to Charles Macquarie's estate. 5) Selections 1794-1804 relating to the Macquarie family from the letter books of Murdoch Maclaine. 5) Correspondence 1835-39 between Lachlan Macquarie, son of Governor Macquarie, and his cousin Murdoch Maclaine.
- Biography/History:

Lachlan Macquarie (1761-1824) was Governor of New South Wales 1810-22. His uncle Murdoch Maclaine of Lochbuie was his guardian. In 1807 he married Elizabeth Campbell and a son Lachlan was born in 1814. Murdoch Maclaine also reared Macquarie's younger brother Charles, who died in March 1835.
