Logbook 24 May 1850 to 8 Mar. 1852 recording part of a voyage by the Margaret, from departure from Liverpool en route to China. The entries record daily routine aboard, weather observations, and the navigational course of the ship. Behaviour of the crew, including desertions, is mentioned. Most crew were discharged at Port Jackson and new hands hired.
- Biography/History:

Officer of the trading vessel Margaret which sailed in 1850 from Liverpool bound for San Francisco, thence via Tahiti to Sydney and Bombay, to China and then back to England. The ship called at only a few islands during the Pacific crossing. She anchored off Lady Elliot Island, North Queensland, where samples of guano were collected before the Margaret proceeded to Sydney where she berthed from 18 June to 21 Aug. 1851.
