Correspondence of David Blackburn with his sister Margaret and his mother. Provide an account of early life at Port Jackson describing aborigines such as Benelong, his acquaintance with the governor and the problems of inadequate food supplies. Also concern the preparations for the departure of the Supply from Portsmouth and mention a delay while a code of laws was being drawn up for the colony. Describes Norfolk Island and the discovery of Lord Howe Island. Also contains certificates belonging to Blackburn, including instructions signed by Governor Phillip to sail to Norfolk Island in 1791, and letters from Blackburn's acquaintances and family, re his death at the Royal Naval Hospital at Haslar.

Master H.M. Armed Tender Supply. Sailed with the ship when it left England in May 1787 carrying convicts to New South Wales. In early 1791 the Supply was placed under the command of Blackburn to carry a detachment of the New South Wales Corps, settlers and stores to Norfolk Island.
