The papers have been sorted into the following series - General correspondence, 1910-1967, Articles, Sir Russell Grimwade, Sierra Leone, Western Australia, New Guinea 1922-1925, New Guinea 1945-1962, Conservation Act (N.S.W.) 1949, Coffee production, Preservation of Timber, and Photographs. Correspondence is contained in most of these series, and includes letters from Lord and Lady Novar, M. R. Jacobs, G. Rodgers, H. C. King, Professor J. D. Ovington, Jack Lever, Sir Russell Grimwade, Lane Poole's wife and children, Major J. McAdam, timber merchants, the C.S.I.R.O., Commonwealth New Guinea Timbers Ltd., Bulolo Gold Dredging Ltd., Mallison & Sons Ltd., and the Department of Forests, New Guinea. Other formats include reports, printed material, cuttings, articles and books by Lane Poole and other foresters, and photographs and glass slides

Forrester. Worked in South Africa (1906-1910) and Sierra Leone (1910-1915). In Australia, was W.A. Conservator of Forests (1917-1922), reported on forests in Papua New Guinea (1922-1925) and South Africa (1935), between 1926 and 1945 was Inspector-General of Forests, and in retirement worked as a consultant
