Summary:

Speeches, articles and publications relating to John Hunter's medical career and particularly to his interest in medical ethics. 2 diaries kept by Hunter during his time as chief biologist with the Australasian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-1914, together with photographs, slides, etc. relating to the Expedition. (2 boxes lantern slides transferred to Pictorial).

Biography/History:

Dr. Hunter (1888-1964) was chief biologist on the Australasian Antarctic Expedition, 1911-1914. In 1929 he was appointed the first full-time Medical Secretary, New South Wales Branch, British Medical Association. In 1934 he became Secretary to the Federal Council of the British Medical Association in Australia. He became the first Secretary-General of the Australian Medical Association in 1962.
