Contains volumes 1-5 (part 1) of Jacomb's nine volume family and personal biography. The biography titled "Family portrait", was written in 1956 and spans the years 1899-1923. The biography was based on his own diaries while in service in the New Hebrides, but also contains extracts from his mother's diaries, family letters and other letters to himself from settlers in the New Hebrides. The narrative includes descriptions of Jacomb's visit to Australia, his brother's fruit farm at Mildura, travels to Vila, Noumea, Fiji and Norfolk Island, etc. Also includes photographs of New Hebrides and other papers, 1913-1917.
- Biography/History:

Edward Jacomb (1881-1960) read for the bar and studied French law in Paris. He visited Australia in 1906 and obtained work in the New Hebrides. After service in the First World War he returned to the New Hebrides in 1919 but left the Pacific Area in 1920.
