- Biography/History:

Charles Armitage Brown (1786-1842) emigrated to New Zealand in 1841 and established a sawmilling business in Taranaki. Charles (Carlino) Brown, (1820-1901), son of C. A. Brown also emigrated in 1841 and held several official positions in Taranaki.
