The collection comprises manuscript music scores, tape recordings, notebooks and other papers that provide a complete record of Dr Young's long career as a choirmaster and composer.
- Biography/History:

William Henry (Keith) Young (1913-1995) was an Australian organist, choirmaster, composer, poet, adjudicator, and teacher of piano, organ and singing. Born in Mount Gambier, he arrived in Ballarat around 1935. He served in the RAAF during the Second World War and in 1943 married musician and teacher Amy Merle Crouch (1916-2009). He held numerous posts as organist and choirmaster in Ballarat, most prominently at the Wesley Methodist (later Uniting) Church and the Ballarat Choristers. He directed the massed choir for the weekly Sounds of Sunday television programme, which was broadcast throughout western Victoria in the 1970s. His compositions include a vast number of hymns, carols, anthems and songs. He was appointed MBE in 1972 and received honorary doctorates in music and literature.
