Conservation campaigner. Audrey Fay Sutton (née Simpson) was born in 1926 and grew up in Geelong, Victoria. Sutton became involved with the environment movement in the early 1970s. She was a council member of the Australian Conservation Foundation from 1979 until her death in 2000 and championed such causes as ecologically sustainable societies. She was instrumental in the formation of Greening Australia in the early 1980s and served as an executive councillor of the Nature Conservation Council of New South Wales from 1980 to 2000. Sutton was active in several other groups and committees committed to the environment cause. Sutton died in Sydney in 2000.
