Simon Gallaher recalls the importance of music in his upbringing; gives details of his early musical education and how he developed his piano playing technique; describes the influences which led to him eventually deciding on a career in show business; describes his participation in school productions and with the Queensland Light Opera Company; his entry into commercial television as a presenter at an early age; tells of the events which lead to his decision not to audition for NIDA; decision to attend the Queensland Conservation of Music; how his musical and entrepreneurial career commenced in 1977; his appearance on The Mike Walsh Show in 1977; his high level of success in the television entertainment industry; being cast in "The Pirates of Penzance" in 1984 and other productions; his development as a producer of light opera musicals, concerts and cabaret seasons.
Gallaher speaks of his involvement in theatre covering the full spectrum from singer to actor to his company staging productions of An Unforgettable Evening (1992); The Pirates of Penzance (1990 version); The Mikado staged in New Zealand (1995 a co-production of a new version); HMS Pinafore (1997); The Merry Widow (1998); Master Class (1999); A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum"(1999); in 2001 "An Evening With Simon Gallaher" -a cabaret season celebrating 25 years in show business.

Gallaher is a theatrical star, a singer, a musician, pianist, a songwriter, and theatrical producer and entrepreneur. His musical and entrepreneurial career commenced in 1977 when he staged his first concert season in his home town of Brisbane. His career was launched nationally through the television show The Mike Walsh Show. By 1982 he had become the youngest entertainer to be given his own night-time television variety show running for two seasons on ABC TV. He has won numerous entertainment awards (eg TV Logie, three MO Variety Awards).
