The records of the Constitutional Convention include lists of candidates, how to vote information & publications of the Australian Electoral Commission, and other material relating to the electoral process (including video Young Flag produced by candidate group Republic4U). A quantity of website material representing delegates and their agents & a variety of media servers & an extensive collection of news cuttings covering the period is also included. Minutes of the Convention proceedings in this collection are incomplete. The records also include 8 binders of numbered correspondence relating to submissions to the Constitutional Convention and 37 VHS videotapes on proceedings of Constitutional Convention plenary sessions.

- The Constitutional Convention was held 2-13 Feb. 1998, Old Parliament House, Canberra. The aim of the Convention was to determine whether Australia should become a republic, the most appropriate republican model to be put to the voters, & to recommend a suitable timeframe & circumstances for such a referendum. The Convention was attended by 152 delegates with half elected under the Constitutional Convention (Election) Act 1997 & the other half appointed by the Commonwealth Govt. including 40 representatives from all Australian legislatures.

- Full details of proceedings and voting on final resolutions will be presented to the Commonwealth Parliament & published in a report on the Convention.
