- Vols 1-2: journals kept by Phillip Parker King during the surveying expedition (1826-1830) of HMS Adventure, HMS Beagle and HMS Adelaide.
- Vol. 3: journals kept by John Lort Stokes (HMS Beagle); letter of instructions from King to Stokes (March 1828); and journals of Lieut. G.W. Skyring (HMS Beagle and HMS Adelaide). The volume also contains journal and reports by Lieut. Graves (HMS Hope and HMS Adelaide).
- Vol. 4: reports and a journal of Capt. Robert Fitzroy (HMS Beagle).
- Vol. 5: Meteorological journals, provision book and miscellaneous papers.
- Biography/History:

Son of Philip Gidley King. He was a naval officer, hydrographer and manager of the Australian Agricultural Company. Between 1826 and 1830 he commanded HMS Adventure and HMS Beagle to chart the coasts of Peru, Chile and Patagonia. See ADB, vol. 2 (p. 61-64).
