Biography/History:

Economist and administrator; Secretary of Dept. of Trade 1956-1960, Director of the Research School of Pacific Studies 1960-1967, Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University 1968-1973 and Chancellor of the Australian National University 1976-1984.
