Burdett Smith, M.P. for Macleay 1880-1883, agriculture and Canberra; also correspondence of P.C. Mowle, 1899-1910, 1920-1934, correspondence relating to T.B. Wilson, customs register for Wodonga, Jan. 1901 and other documents, 1859-1931.

Genealogist and writer, Mowle was the compiler of the first four editions of a genealogical history of pioneer families in Australia, an attempt at identifying the early families and their descendants, 1788-1838 excluding convicts. See also Pioneer families of Australia, of the above work, p.125. Member of Marine Board of N.S.W.; editor of Pioneer Families of Australia; grandson of S.M. Mowle (1822-1908) who married Mary, daughter of T.B. Wilson, and leased land on the Molongo River where Canberra now stands. S.M. Mowle became Usher of the Black Rod to Legislative Council, N.S.W. 1883, after being employed in the Civil Service as a Customs Officer at Twofold Bay.
