Also diaries, correspondence, journals, memorabilia, and printed matter.

Born in 1897 in Melbourne, Mr. Howlett studied law at Melbourne University, but spent his life teaching. Travelled overseas as an English teacher on migrant ships. In the late 1930's he took up a teaching position at Melbourne Grammar, which he held for the rest of his life.
