Collection of photographs taken of the repatriation of the remains of Tambo, who was part of a group of Aboriginal Australians removed to the United States for display in ethnographic exhibitions. Tambo died in the United States in 1884, where his remains were discovered and returned for ceremonial re-burial at Palm Island in February, 1994. Includes photographs of Kitchener Bligh, Aboriginal Australian elder; Robert Tickner, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs; Edward Joseph Perkins, American Ambassador to Australia, talking to the press; Aboriginal Australian children; Aboriginal Australian pall-bearers; and the assembly at the feast.
