Memoirs written with bristles of a toothbrush in a notebook entitled "A wartime log for British prisoners", the gift of the YMCA Geneva. It contains Penny's notes from 18 October 1943 until 31 March 1945, relating to events in the camp, names and addresses of fellow prisoners, poems and illustrations. The illustrations, some in colour, were drawn by Joe Profit of Genmoyan, South Wales, and Frank Shaw of Adelaide.
- Biography/History:

F/Sgt. "Rud" Penny was the navigator of "E Easy" which was shot down over Hannover, Germany on 18 October 1943. Five members of the crew of seven died then or shortly afterwards. Penny was a prisoner of war in Stalag IVB, Muhlberg on Elbe, Germany until 30 March 1945
