Summary:

The collection includes three letters to W. Dobell, exhibition catalogues of William Dobell's paintings, newspaper and magazine clippings, articles from journals and photographs and negatives relating to Dobell and his painting. Also includes a book entitled Trooper to the Southern Cross by Leslie Parker.

Biography/History:

Australian artist. Won the Archibald Prize in 1943, 1948 and 1959. His works include portraits of the late Professor John Andersen, Sir Robert Menzies and Dame Mary Gilmore.
