- Summary:

Harry Haxton, born in Stanthorpe, Queensland talks about his early life; his first job with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia whilst studying for qualifications in Economics and Information Processing; after graduating beginning a lifelong interest in records management when he established Commercial Archives of Australia (now Brambles/Recall); how, in the late 1970s he became aware of conservators' needs for conservation supplies, which were not available locally; setting up Conservation Resources International (CRI) in 1977 and beginning a long association with the conservation profession; owning and managing the conservation business until August 2002; how during her life his first wife Peg was responsible for a significant part of the running of the conservation business.
Haxton talks of the enjoyment he derived, particularly in the early days of the CRI business, in getting to know most of the conservators, of helping them solve their problems, of being a sponsor of the Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM) organisation and of the challenges in being the first major importer of conservation materials.
