M199: Sub-Committee minutes 1799-1818, of the following - Accounts, 1808-17; Correspondence, 1799-1818; Funds, 1812-15; and Special Committees, 1799-1815. The minutes are followed by four letters from William Hall and John King 1809-11, the three written from Parramatta referring to Reverend Samuel Marsden and the delay in establishing a New Zealand mission, together with an extract of a letter dated 22 Nov. 1821, written from Bay of Islands, New Zealand, by Rev. J. Williams. The second half of reel M199 contains letterbooks of correspondence from Society officials to missionaries in New Zealand 1852-1883. M200-211: Mission books 1820-80, containing copies made in London from the "In" correspondence, for which separate names indexes exist. Included are annual reports of the various missionaries, journals, documentating local political, economic and social conditions or describing journeys undertaken, and details of dealings with colonial officials.

The Church Missionary Society for Africa and the East was founded in London in 1799. The New Zealand Mission began in 1814 and the Australian mission in 1825 due to the efforts of the Rev. Samuel Marsden.
