Rita Salter was born and lives in Murwillumbah with her Irish-Australian family. Her sister, Betty Franks and Rita's daughter, Bernadette, are active members of the Catholic community and do volunteer work in the town. Their father and mother were well known farmers and participants in the life of the Murwillumbah community.
