-
- Attributed by Evans to Benjamin West, evidently on the basis of West's association with the name Bickerstaff; but the almanac bears no resemblance to that issued by West under his own name for this year, The North-American calendar (Providence). The calendar pages through April and the eclipse predictions (p. [2]) are in fact identical with those in The United States almanack for 1784 by Andrew Beers (Hartford: B. Webster), while the calculations in the calendar pages for May through December are identical with those in Nehemiah Strong's An astronomical ephemeris, calendar, or almanack, for 1784 (Hartford: Hudson & Goodwin).
- This curiosity is discussed by Strong in the Connecticut journal, New Haven, for Oct. 27, 1784. Cf. Bates, A.C. "Check list of Connecticut Almanacs." Proceedings of the American Antiquarian Society, n.s. v. 24 (1914): p. 102-103.
