Jenny Loughlin speaks about her family background; both sides of family being working class and left-wing; the refusal of Catholic Church to bury her grandfather because the children were communists; her father's childhood; her mother's childhood, the racist taunts; the Eureka Youth League, dances and bushwalking; both parents being members of the Communist Party; early involvement in social issues; living at Heathcote, NSW, in one-roomed shed; the Bushwhackers; Reedy River; the Bush Music Club; Reedy River Bushmen band; her father's involvement in unionism, head of Printers' Union and his dealings with Sir Frank Packer; living in inner Sydney; their house being a distribution point for the 'Tribune'; an open door policy, strangers welcomed; the parties at home; being spied on by ASIO; how John Meredith was a close family friend; his friendship with her mother; her father's car accident; her father's death; her mother's cancer and death at 49 years of age; assisting John Meredith with collecting and his personality.
