  • Map of the town and port of Macao with relief shown by hachures and pictorially. The map shows the built-up area, the city walls and fortifications in considerable detail. These are, in French (with tEnglish in brackets): the major fortification, Notre Dame de la Montaigne [Our Lady of the Mountain], St Jago et St Philippe [St James and St Philip], Notre Dame de Bomparto [Our Lady of Bomparto] and a shore battery [St Francis] below the southern slopes of a small fort on a high hill, and Nossa Senhora de Guia (the only name given in Portuguese) [Our Lady of Guidance], where a lighthouse was built some years later.
