"The founding editor in 1920 was Lieut-Colonel Francis J. Bowen, a retired British army officer, who on his return to Britain was succeeded in 1922 by W.G. Fitzgibbon. He is seldom identified, but named himself in April 1924, p. 549. Later, the magazine became more closely associated with the Jesuit Fathers. In the early 1930s there are several articles on world affairs signed by Jesuits, including two lengthy and well-informed articles in January 1934 warning of the danger of Nazism."--Information provided by Stuart Braga.
"The publication was extensively supported by advertisers, but not until 1928 did advertisements appear for several major British-controlled companies: the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp., the Kowloon-Canton Railway, Thos. There are no advertisements for the major trading hongs - Jardine Matheson, and Butterfield & Swire."--Information provided by Stuart Braga.
