- Biography/History:

Writer, poet and traveller. Sydney Walter Powell, born 1878, London, England. He served with the 4th Battalion of the 1st Australian Division at Gallipoli, where he was badly wounded. He later turned to writing for a living, first in South Africa, and later in England. His publications include Adventures of a wanderer, Ancestors and a volume of verse One way street. Included in the latter is his poem Gallipoli, winner of the Poetry Society prize.
