John Unicomb, born 1928 in Dulwich Hill, New South Wales, began acting as a boy with ABC Radio's Children session in 1936. He has worked in radio, television and theatre in Australia and England. He worked for the Theatre Royal in Hobart and in 1986 was appointed General Manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1994. In 1972 he created the Tasmanian Theatre Company in which he worked as actor, manager and Executive Director until 1986. After retirement, he continued to work as a freelance actor, publicist and manager and regularly conducted guided tours of the Theatre Royal.
