An illustrator and ornithologist, Neville William Cayley (1886-1950) illustrated for the Australian Encyclopedia (1925-26) and wrote the highly influential What Bird is That? in 1931. He was president of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists' Union, 1936-1937.
Gregory Macalister Mathews, ornithologist and book collector. Author of the monumental Birds of Australia (London, 1910-27).
Dominic Louis Serventy (1904-1988) was President of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union, 1947-1949, and was elected a Fellow of the RAOU in 1952. In 1956 he was awarded the Australian Natural History Medallion. He was co-author of Birds of Western Australia and The Handbook of Australian Seabirds.
