This album was most likely compiled on board the ship SS Ormonde by passenger James Downie. On the suede cover of the album is a painting of a ship, most likely the SS Ormonde. There are twenty black and white photographs; the first fourteen are of Egypt and the remainder are of "Australia and the South Seas". These comprise photographs of koalas, the beach, unidentified city buildings, a house and two photographs of Sydney Harbour Bridge. One photograph of a steamer is annotated "Pat and Eileen Shakleton". Also pasted into the album are part of the ship's newspaper with a passenger list, though the Shakletons are not mentioned. There are press cuttings, with photographs about James Downie. Included in the album is a ship's menu, dated 1937, which has on its verso an untitled poem of sixteen lines with James Downie's name underneath. Other ephemera includes a couple of ribbons from bottles (Fosters, Tooth & Co., Sydney and 1917 champagne) and a marconigram sent from Watford to Wheeler Orsova Rugby by Shakleton (16 Feb. 1935).
