MS 6607 comprises correspondence, and drafts of plays including A stretch of the imagination and Dimboola, and novels including Memoirs of an old bastard, The life of Riley and Perdita. Also included are theatre programs, reviews, newspaper cuttings, notebooks and other papers. Correspondents include J.D. Hainsworth, Graeme Blundell, Laurie Clancy, Helen Garner, Patrick McCaughey, Martin Friedel and John Tittenson (46 boxes, 1 fol. box).
The Acc02.155 instalment includes poetry and other drafts, music scores, a file on Dimboola the musical, correspondence and fellowship applications, and cuttings (1 carton).
The Acc03.151 instalment comprises correspondence, notes, drafts and synopses, files on drama festivals and play productions, reviews, cuttings and programs. There are also files on Australian-Indonesian cultural activities (1 carton).
The Acc06.095 instalment comprises correspondence, manuscript and typescript drafts of plays, poems and articles, newspaper cuttings and other printed material, four magnetic tapes and two cassettes (1 box).
The Acc09.107 instalment comprises manuscript and typescript drafts of plays, including Serendipity, Prodigal son, Stretch of the imagination, Marvellous Melbourne, Dimboola, Customs and excise, The old school tie, Lavender bags, Mothballs and Love at first sight. Other papers include correspondence, typescript poems and short stories, reviews, photographs, personal papers (education certificates), ephemera from plays and production notes (5 boxes).
The Acc13.164 instalment comprises manuscript and typescript drafts of poetry and plays by Hibberd. Also included is the typescript of an interview of Hibberd conducted in 2007, and his school reports (4 boxes).
- Biography/History:

Writer and arts journalist. Jack Hibberd was born in Warracknabeal, Victoria, in 1940. Hibberd studied medicine at the University of Melbourne and practised as a doctor in Melbourne from 1964 until 1973. He was closely associated with the Australian Performing Group until 1976. His plays include A stretch of the imagination (1973) and Dimboola (1974). More recent works include the novels Memoirs of an old bastard (1989), The life of Riley (1991), and Perdita (1992). He has also published translations of poems by Baudelaire, Le vin des amants (1977), and with Garrie Hutchinson, The barrackers' bible: a dictionary of sporting slang (1983).
