MS Acc07.071 comprises correspondence, subject files, speeches, press cuttings, scrapbooks, personal papers, diaries, photographs and audiovisual material (151 boxes, 2 fol. boxes).
The Acc08.067 instalment comprises correspondence offering Sir James Killen a seat in the Chapel of St Paul's Cathedral, by virtue of his seniority within the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George. Killen accepted a name plate (1 packet).
- Biography/History:

Lawyer, politician, author and orator. Denis James (Jim) Killen was born in Dalby, Queensland in 1925 and attended Brisbane Grammar School and the University of Queensland. He graduated in law in 1962, seven years after entering Parliament in 1955. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Australian Air Force. He also worked as a wool classer and foreman before beginning his long parliamentary career. Killen joined the Liberal Party of Australia in 1949 and became founding president of the Queensland Young Liberals.
He was the Liberal Member for the Brisbane seat of Moreton from 1955-1983, and held the positions of Minister for the Navy from 1969 to 1971 and Minister for Defence from 1975 to 1982. After leaving Parliament in 1983, Killen resumed legal practice. He was knighted in 1982. In 2001 he received a Centenary Medal and in 2004 he was created a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for distinguished contributions to public life. Killen died in Brisbane in 2007.
