- "Private and Confidential. Special (Verbatim) Report. February 1893. The Elder Exploring Expedition. Meeting of the Council of the South Australian Branch of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia." -- T.p. verso.
- "From the outset the Royal Geographic Society of Australasia (South Australian Branch) had intended to publish this report enquiring into what went wrong with the expedition. It is thought the very embarrassing nature of its content, particularly the criticism levelled at Lindsay by the scientific members of the expedition, prevented it from being so. It is unclear how many original copies of this report exist. Jonathan Wantrup in Australian Rare Books states that a complete account is held in a private collection, and a partial set of galley proofs is in the library of the Royal Geographical Society of South Australia. As far as I can ascertain there is in fact no copy held by the RGSSA. The source of this publication of the account is from a set of galley proofs pasted into a copy book held in the Mortlock Library of South Australia." -- Introd.
