The Company first started in Melbourne in 1892 as a branch of the parent Company in England. As the Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Co., of Australasia it was registered in 1899 and purchased the Australasian rights from the English Company. In 1905 the name was changed to Dunlop Rubber Co., of Australasia Ltd. The Company merged with Perdriau Rubber Co. in 1929 and the Barnet Glass Rubber Co., Ltd., was also taken over. The Company was then known as Dunlop Perdriau Rubber Co., Ltd. and it changed to its present title in 1941.
