Murray Criddle, former Minister for Transport and a farmer describes the region of Binnu, a nearby small settlement. He then discusses the W.A. Govt. assumptions re climate; his father's earlier memories of climate; drought being part of the scene; new technology; farmers' survival in the Murchison region (where he chaired a group to help drought affected farmers); how farmers change equipment less during drought; the importance of social life in a crisis; community help and his own experience; how people are coping; the effect on local towns eg. Chapman Valley, Una, Dongara and Nabawa; services shifting to other places; Kalbarri, a coastal town; the cost of drought, production costs increasing; alternative crops, Mallee oil.
