Peter Figg and Jessica Pollard are two youth workers with the St Vincent de Paul Society, who moved to Forbes, NSW, in May 2008 to facilitate a drought project with the young people of the area. They speak about what led them to the St Vincent de Paul Society and the high turnover of youth workers; the differences experienced by young people in the city and the country; the isolation of the bush; the wish to remain in the country; Indigenous youth wanting to pursue certain careers in the bush; drought issues and stress; the importance of succession planning within charitable organisations to ensure the continuity of projects.
