Biography/History:

The 'Redfern Railway Station' shown in this image is not the current Redfern Railway Station on Lawson Street. The station shown here was the terminus since 1855 of the Sydney Railway system which was located at the end of Devonshire Street, next to Railway Square which was also named 'Redfern'. The original Redfern Railway Station was replaced by Central Station in 1906, and the name 'Redfern' was transferred to the station on Lawson Street which had previously borne the name of Eveleigh--Information from reference source.
