MS Acc08.159 comprises correspondence (some photocopies), flyers, invitations and photographs relating to concerts and other artistic events at "Migila", the Beier's house in Sydney, and other Sydney venues; proof copy and artworks, including drawings and colour slides for an unpublished book The art of four generations; annotated typescripts for Deutsche Welle radio programmes on dying cultures; typescripts of interviews by Ulli Beier; copies of publications edited by Ulli and Georgina Beier, spiral-and-tape-bound compilations comprising essays, conversations and bibliographies by Ulli and Georgina Beier, and copies of publications illustrated by Georgina Beier (5 boxes, 1 fol. box).
- Biography/History:

Editor, translator, writer and scholar. Ulli Beier was born in Germany in 1922. Beier studied phonetics in London and joined the faculty of the University of Ibadan where he had a pioneering role in developing drama, poetry and visual arts in Nigeria. From 1968 he worked in Papua New Guinea and co-organised with Georgina Beier the country's first art exhibition, established Kovave, a journal of New Guinea writing, and Gigibori: a magazine of New Guinea cultures. Beier lives in Australia and works as an independent scholar.
