The Albert Dryer collection contains photographs taken during Dryer's internment in Darlinghurst Gaol in 1918-1919, the visit of Eamon de Valera to Australia in 1948 and Dr TJ Kiernan's term as the first Irish ambassador to Australia. It also contains portraits of Dryer and his family, as well as snapshots of their social life.
- Biography/History:

Albert Dryer founded the Irish National Association in 1915 in Sydney, with the object of propagating the principle of Irish independence. For this cause he was interned in Darlinghurst Gaol in 1918. He practised medicine from 1938, in Sydney and Singleton, N.S.W., where he died in 1963. Further information may be found at: http://nla.gov.au/nla.party-610897
