- Title supplied by artist.
- Inscription on the top plaque: "Captain Charles Sturt discovered Cooper Creek about fifteen miles west of this place on 13 October 1845 in his attempt to reach the centre of Australia. His work prompted further exploration resulting in the pastoral occupation of this locality and Western Queensland. Erected 1944."
- Inscription on the middle plaque: "Burke, Wills, Gray and King. the first to cross the continent from south to north passed here 17 December 1860. The sole survivor, King, was cared for by the natives and was rescued by Howitt 15 September 1861. Erected 1944."
- Inscription on bottom plaque: "In commemoration of Innamincka Township Centenary 1890-1990. Gazetted 16th April 1890 named Hopetoun renamed Innamincka on 28th Feb. 1892. This plaque donated by the Business Houses of Innamincka was erected on 16th April 1990."
