Black Lace was a popular Aboriginal country rock band established in 1972 when Silva Linings (formed in 1966 by vocalist and drummer Mac Silva, Geoff Compton and Steve Lugnan) changed its name. Malcolm (Mac) Silva, the band’s leader, was born in Kempsey, New South Wales in 1947, and moved to Sydney with his family in 1965. He died from a heart attack at the age of 42 in April 1989.
