"Education in the Twenty First Century" was the theme of this first Annual Meeting of the European Home Study Council (EHSC), which was preceded by a congress on October 28, 1968. This theme reflects the thoughts of the EHSC as to the future direction of home study if increasing demands for education are to be met. The speeches are preceded by "An Introduction to the History, Objects and Services of the European Home Study Council Education by Correspondence in Europe," by Executive Director of EHSC Einar Rorstadt. The speeches are: "Education for the 21st Century--Planning Education in Order to Influence the Future," by Drs. Max Kohnstamm; "The Role of Independent Study in the 21st Century," by Dr. Alvin C. Eurich; "The Educational Situation in the United States of America--The Role of Home Study," by Dr. David A. Lookmiller; and "New Directions in Academic Studies in the Federal Republic of Germany," by Professor Dr. Gunther Dohmen. A listing of the members of the committees of the EHSC is provided. (DB)
