This unannotated bibliography provides a somewhat complete listing of items published from 1948 to 1970 on the subject of African socialism. Though relevant material from allied subjects has been included, an effort has been made to stay rather closely within the confines of this topic. The bibliography covers Africa as a whole, however it does concentrate on Africa south of the Sahara, particularly East Africa. The document is divided into six parts: Part I contains information about the Research Information Centre of the East African Academy, and notes to the users of the bibliography; Part II contains a summary of the conceptual development, history, and various views on African socialism; Part III comprises the alphabetically arranged bibliography, along with a listing of additional general sources; Part IV presents short biographic sketches of prominent men in African socialism; Part V is the list of serials from which the entries were taken; and, Part VI is a geographically divided list of relevant organizations and their addresses. Non-English titles have been translated into English, though this does not mean that the articles themselves are available in English. Many of the items are articles from international periodicals, and reprints should be easily obtainable. (Author/JLB)
