This course has been developed specifically for the training of Foreign Service officers and representatives of other United States government agencies who are involved in foreign affairs. Classes are intended to be limited to six students in a full-time, intensive, training program requiring six hours of class and two hours of laboratory work each day for beginning students. Emphasis in this audiolingual course is placed on the development of speaking skills. The core of each lesson is a dialogue focusing on everyday situations which an adult might encounter in France. The dialogues are presented in three parallel columns--one in French, another in transcription illustrating the French phonology, and the third in English. Units also contain sections on dialogue notes, useful words, lexical drills, questions on the dialogue, grammar, document study, situations, question drills, response drills, narration, and orthography notes. For the companion document see FL 002 667. (RL)
