In the principal article, "A Comparison of Two Large-Scale Studies of the Use-Effectiveness of IUDs," the results of evaluation of loop D use in 11 public health and hospital clinics (California Cooperative Statistical Program for Evaluation of Intrauterine Devices) are compared with results from the Cooperative Statistical Program for Evaluation of Intrauterine Devices. The second article, "Policies Affecting Population in West Africa," examines the overall impact of governmental social and economic development policies on the rate of population growth and the movement of people from rural to urban areas. "Family Planning Acceptors in Lagos, Nigeria," describes a comparative study of family planning clinic patients. Its purpose was to look for indications of the kinds of persons who might attend such clinics, given further health education and the opening of additional clinics. Three social and demographic factors emerged from this study as predictors of use of family planning: age, parity, and educational level. The final article, "Use of Oral Contraceptives in Urban, Rural, and Slum Areas," describes a comparative study of the acceptability and use-effectiveness of oral contraceptives in the Howrah District in India.
