Provided are the statements presented to the United States Congress in February and March, 1977, on the proposed extention of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act. Included is testimony on the progress of the child abuse prevention and treatment effort and recommendations from representatives of private and public agencies and institutions and local projects. Statements provided include those of the following persons: B. Fraser, executive director of the National Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse; L. Lapicki, Parents Anonymous; and H. Rosenthal, director of the Division of Youth and Family Services, New Jersey. Also included are prepared statements, letters, and supplemental material such as the following: prepared statement of Dr. V. Fontana, New York Foundling Hospital; and a report by J. Goldrick titled "The Sociological and Psychological Factors in the Backgrounds of Child Abusers". Appended are additional letters and testimony. (IM)
