As part of a cooperative extension service series by the University of Maryland this publication introduces the identification and control of common agricultural pests of fruit crops. The first of the five sections defines "pest" and "weed" and generally introduces different kinds of pests in the categories of insects, weeds, and diseases. Also in this section, pest control methods are introduced. The second section is a tabular listing of fruit crop plant diseases including information on "description and damage" and on "control and management practices." The third section is also a tabular listing of insect pests including "description and damage,""life cycle," and "control and management practices" information. The fourth section lists in the same format as the previous sections, the weeds that compete with fruit crops in Maryland. The final section is a collection of line drawings of some of these weeds. One is referred to other extension bulletins for specific chemical pest control methods. (MR)
