This project was designed to develop and implement a model for providing a physical education program for the students at Bacon County (Georgia) Junior High School utilizing the resources available. The concept was based on the results of effective programs employing peer tutors as instructors. A corollary goal was to provide positive experiences for both tutors and the tutees. An additional objective of the project was to provide a program that was equal to or superior to the traditional physical education program taught by a trained teacher on a full-time basis. Meeting state standards for accrediting criteria was mandatory. (Author/JMF)
